  1. I just wanted to let you guys know what an amazing thing you are doing. It takes a lot of hard work and perserverance and I thank you for treating your animals and your land with respect.

  2. Hi Andrew,West Hill is a 10 minute drive along Kingston Rd. Just go east ffom Victoria Park until you see the Guild Inn or Rouge Hill Go station and voila you made it.

  3. When listing the Butcher shops that carry your products you mention that Close to the Bone is located in West Hill, when it in fact located in Toronto. The Lord Google tells me that West Hill is located at Kingston Rd and Lawrence Ave in Toronto. Never even heard of the area before. Close to the Bone is located near Kingston Rd and Victoria Ave in the Beaches.

  4. A truly inspiring couple. Your farm is amazingly well run and the animals look happy and healthy.

Love eating your poultry products and lookng forward to pork and ducks! :)

  5. Great turkey :)

Together John and Marcia humanely raise, fresh air, grass fed, hormone and antibiotic free birds (Domestic Heritage Turkey, Standard Turkey, French Guinea Fowl, Ringneck Pheasant, Jumbo Pekin Duck, Muscovy, Geese, Mixed Breeds of Laying Hens, Roasting Chicken, Silkies) and animals (rare breed heritage Tamworth pigs, Jacob sheep, and Goats).

Their Feed is purchased from a drug free plant in Heidburg (as close to organic as possible) with added flax, and certified organic feed from Bio Agi. It is supplemented by GMO free cash crops grown by family member George Stevers. Their four main crops are Jerusalem Artichokes, Garlic Greens, Garlic and Rhubarb.

You can find their products at the Guelph Farmers’ Market, from their Farm Gate, in Restaurants in Toronto (Amuse Bouche, Jamie Kennedy Kitchens, Torito Tapas Bar, C-5 ROM, Fat Cat, The Black Hoof, Gladstone Hotel), and Butcher Shops ( Condor Meat Products in Woodbridge, The Village Butcher in Etobicoke, Close to the Bone in West Hill, The Healthy Butcher in Toronto), Mill Croft Inn-Alton, Artisanale Café and Bistro-Guelph. They are educating consumers to help them understand that they must reinvest in their Local Food System.

Where do you place your Farmer in the Food Chain?

If they do not have a required product they will source it out from family and friends who grow and think the way they do. At present they have young farm families that grow spelt, red fife, rabbit, pheasant, french guinea fowl, heritage and standard turkeys, geese, muscovy, roasting chickens, goat, lamb, beef, potatoes and other garden vegetables and make maple syrup.
